Pravin Jain, Managing Partner
Mr. Pravin Jain is a hands-on technology entrepreneur turned investor, both as a GP and a LP. Out of over 20 years of technology experience, Mr. Jain has 14 years of entrepreneurial experience, including as co-founder of Decide.com and cMango.
Mr. Jain founded SMP in 2007 and deployed proprietary capital as India Alpha Fund I (“IAF I”). Prior to founding SMP, Mr. Jain generated a return of greater than 40 times in his previous venture, cMango (that he sold to WIPRO), in a period of six years. Mr Jain is also an investor in Motilal Oswal Private Equity’s India Business Excellence Fund. Before cMango, Mr. Jain co-founded Decide.com in Silicon Valley after working in different capacities at Aquas Inc. (Silicon Valley) and EMC Corporation (Boston Area).
Mr. Jain completed his Bachelors in Computer Engineering from University of Mumbai and Masters in Computer System Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston. He also completed the Executive Program for Growing Companies at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Indroneel Dutt, Partner
Mr. Indroneel Dutt has more than 16 years of experience in investment banking and corporate finance for technology companies. He has handled more than US$ 200 million in technology based M&A transactions, both on the “buy” and “sell” side, including complex cross border transactions.. Mr. Dutt is extensively networked in the banking communities across both USA and India and has a deep understanding of international finance, business due-diligence and exit positioning.
Prior to SMP, Mr. Dutt co-founded Finovant LLC, a boutique advisory services firm focused on the technology vertical where he concluded multiple complex cross border transactions focused on the technology vertical. Mr. Dutt was the CFO of cMango Inc where he was instrumental in the sale of the company to Wipro Inc.
Prior to cMango, Mr. Dutt worked at eFORCEGlobal, Inc. and Tata Consultancy Services. At eFORCEGlobal, a global software system integration firm, Mr. Dutt was responsible for finance and operations. At Tata Consultancy Services, one of India's the largest software and services providers, he held various positions of increasing responsibilities.
Mr. Dutt completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree from University of Calcutta, India and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India.
